Kadambini meaning
Kadambini (कादम्बिनी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, का, it is a Mithun rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A long line or bank of clouds
Also used to mean: an array of clouds
Kadambini (कादम्बिनी) is the Sanskrit word for a long line or bank of clouds, the kind that rolls in with the monsoon. Monier-Williams gives this sense and also records Kādambinī as the name of a daughter of the serpent king Takṣaka. Name lists give it as "an array of clouds", which matches the dictionary. Rain clouds are a welcome image in Indian poetry, bringing relief after the summer heat. The best-known bearer is Kadambini Ganguly, who in 1883 became one of the first two women to graduate from an Indian university and went on to practise as a doctor.
