Gagana meaning
Gagana (गगना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Kannada usage).
The atmosphere, sky, firmament
Gagana (ಗಗನ in Kannada, गगना in Devanagari) is Sanskrit gagana, which Monier-Williams gives as the atmosphere, the sky or the firmament. In Kannada gagana is still the literary word for the sky. In North India the same word gives the boys' name Gagan, but in Karnataka Gagana is given to girls, and name lists there give it as "sky" or "heaven", matching the dictionary. It is a simple nature name with a long history in Sanskrit poetry.
