Sharvari meaning
Sharvari (शर्वरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The star-spangled night; evening, twilight
Sharvari (शर्वरी) is the Sanskrit śarvarī, from śarvara, "variegated, spotted". Monier-Williams gives its main sense as the night, explained as the star-spangled night, a meaning found already in the Rigveda, where the plural also names the dappled horses of the storm-gods, the Maruts. The old lexicons add evening or twilight, turmeric, and simply "a woman", and the Bhāgavata Purāṇa names a Śarvarī as the wife of Doṣa. Name lists give Sharvari as "night" or "twilight", the dictionary meaning. The name is used in Maharashtra.
