Priyanka meaning
Priyanka (प्रियंका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
From priya, 'dear, beloved'; the ending is uncertain
Also used to mean: lovable
Priyanka (प्रियंका) is built on Sanskrit priya, "beloved, dear, liked, favourite", one of the commonest words for affection in the language. The full form priyaṅka is not entered in Monier-Williams, and the ending is explained in two ways. Some take it as aṅka, "a mark" or "sign"; Wikipedia instead links the name to priyaṃkara, which the dictionary glosses as "acting kindly", "causing pleasure, agreeable" and "amiable". Neither explanation is documented in an old source, but both point the same way, and Indian name lists give Priyanka as "beloved" or "lovable". Well-known bearers include the actress Priyanka Chopra, Miss World 2000, and the politician Priyanka Gandhi.
