Bhakti meaning
Bhakti (भक्ति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Devotion, attachment, faith, love, worship
Bhakti (भक्ति) is the Sanskrit word for devotion. It comes from the verb bhaj, "to share, partake", and Monier-Williams shows that its oldest senses were a share or portion; later it came to mean attachment, trust, homage, faith and loving devotion to a god. The Shvetashvatara Upanishad and the Bhagavad Gita present bhakti as a path to salvation alongside karma (works) and jnana (knowledge). The word also names the medieval devotional movement of poet-saints such as Mirabai and Tulsidas. As a name it carries the same plain meaning, devotion.
