Mandira meaning
Mandira (मंदिरा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A dwelling, house, palace or temple
Also used to mean: sacred dwelling
Mandira (मंदिरा) is a feminine form of Sanskrit mandira, which Monier-Williams defines as any dwelling or abiding-place: a house, a palace, a temple, a town or a camp, as in the Mahabharata and classical poetry. In modern Indian languages mandir has narrowed to mean a temple, and name lists give Mandira as temple or sacred dwelling. The feminine form itself is not a dictionary headword, so the name is best understood as built on mandira. It is used across North and East India, and a well-known bearer is the television presenter and actress Mandira Bedi.
