Archana meaning
Archana (अर्चना) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Honouring, praising; homage paid to deities and to superiors
Archana (अर्चना) is the Sanskrit arcana or arcanā, a noun from the verb arc, "to praise, to honour". Monier-Williams gives it as "honouring, praising" and as "homage paid to deities and to superiors", citing the Mahabharata among other texts, and it appears in compounds such as surārcana, "worship of the gods". In temples today an archana is also a short act of worship that a priest performs on a devotee's behalf, reciting the devotee's name, family line (gotra) and birth star before the deity. Indian name lists give Archana as "worship", which matches the dictionary. Some lists also link the name with the goddess Lakshmi, which the dictionary does not.
