Hemakshi meaning
Hemakshi (हेमाक्षी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, हे, it is a Kark rashi name (Pushya nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Golden-eyed (heman, "gold", with akṣi, "eye")
Hemakshi (हेमाक्षी) joins Sanskrit heman, "gold", with akṣi, "eye". Monier-Williams notes that akṣi changes to -akṣa at the end of a compound, which gives feminine forms such as hariṇākṣī, "deer-eyed". Hemakshi, "golden-eyed", is built the same way, although the compound itself is not listed in the dictionaries we checked. Name lists give it as "golden-eyed", which fits the parts. It is used mainly in Gujarat, where it is often written Hemaxi.
