Hemavati meaning
Hemavati (हेमवती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, हे, it is a Kark rashi name (Pushya nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Adorned with gold (feminine of hemavat)
Also used to mean: golden, Parvati
Hemavati (हेमवती) is the feminine of Sanskrit hemavat, which Monier-Williams gives as adorned with gold, citing the Rāmāyaṇa. It is formed from heman, "gold", with the ending -vat, "having". In Karnataka the Hemavati is a tributary of the Kaveri, and in Carnatic music Hemavati is the 58th melakarta rāga. Name lists give "golden", and some link the name to Parvati; that title belongs more properly to the similar name Haimavati, "daughter of the Himalaya". Hemavathi is the usual spelling in the South.
