Also used to mean: goddess Parvati
Ambika (अम्बिका) is a loving form of ambā, "mother". Monier-Williams records ambikā as a respectful word for a mother or good woman, and as a name of Pārvatī, wife of Śiva. In the Devī Māhātmya the goddess is often addressed as Ambikā. The Mahābhārata has a princess Ambikā of Kāśī, wife of Vicitravīrya and mother of the blind king Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and in Jainism Ambikā is the guardian goddess of the Tīrthaṅkara Neminātha. Name lists give "mother" or "goddess Parvati", in line with the dictionary.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Parvati.
