Yogita (योगिता) is usually given on Indian name lists as "one who practises yoga", and sometimes as "enchanting". In Monier-Williams, however, the adjective yogita means bewitched or enchanted, and also mad or wild, with no sense connected with practising yoga. We could not find the yoga-practitioner sense in the Sanskrit dictionaries, so it appears to be a modern meaning that has grown up around the name rather than the word's original sense. For a woman who practises yoga, the dictionary word is yoginī, the feminine of yogin. Yogita is a girl's name used across India.
