Araha meaning
Araha (अरहा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (via Pali). By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Worthy, deserving; fit, proper; (feminine arhā) worship
Araha (अरहा) comes from Sanskrit arha, from arh, "to deserve". Monier-Williams gives arha as worthy, deserving, fit or proper, and the feminine arhā as worship. Araha, with the extra a, is the Pali form, and the Pali Text Society dictionary cites the Dhammapada's pūjāraha, "worthy of worship". The same root gives arhat, "venerable", a title of the highest Buddhist saints and of Jain divinities. Name lists give "worthy" or "deserving", matching the dictionaries; a few give "guiding star" or "Lord Shiva", which they do not support. Aaraha is the same name with a long first vowel.
