Swastika meaning
Swastika (स्वस्तिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
An auspicious object or mark; the cross-shaped sign of good fortune
Swastika (स्वस्तिका) comes from Sanskrit svastika, built on svasti, "well-being, good fortune". Monier-Williams defines it as "any lucky or auspicious object", especially the cross-shaped mark drawn on people, doorways and account books to bring good luck, and notes that Jains count it among their auspicious signs. In India and Nepal it is used as a girl's name meaning "auspicious" or "good fortune", and name lists agree. Families living abroad sometimes consider that in Europe and the Americas the symbol is widely known through its use by the Nazi party.
