Anasuya meaning
Anasuya (अनसूया) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Freedom from spite, absence of envy
Also used to mean: free from envy
Anasuya (अनसूया) is the Sanskrit anasūyā, which Monier-Williams defines as freedom from spite, the absence of ill-will or envy. It joins an-, "without", to asūyā, "envy". The most famous bearer is Anasūyā, wife of the sage Atri, whom Sita visits in the forest in the Rāmāyaṇa; in the Purāṇas she is the mother of Dattātreya, Durvāsā and Chandra. Kalidasa also gives the name to one of Śakuntalā's two friends. Name lists give "free from envy", the dictionary sense. The labour leader Anasuya Sarabhai is a notable modern bearer.
