Bhama meaning
Bhama (भामा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, भा, it is a Dhanu rashi name (Mula nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A name of Satyabhama, Krishna's wife; from bhāma, light, splendour
Also used to mean: radiant
Bhama (भामा) is best known as a short form of Satyabhama, one of Krishna's principal wives, and Monier-Williams records bhāmā as her name. The dictionary also gives bhāmā as "a passionate woman". A separate Vedic word, bhāma, means "light, brightness, splendour", which is the sense behind the "radiant" given on baby-name lists. In stories Satyabhama is spirited and proud; she rides into battle with Krishna against the demon Narakasura. The name is used in South India. Bhama is also a Malayalam film actress.
