Bhairavi meaning
Bhairavi (भैरवी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A form of the goddess Durga; a ragini (musical mode)
Also used to mean: a raga
Bhairavi (भैरवी) is the feminine of Sanskrit bhairava, "formidable", the word for Shiva's fierce form. Monier-Williams records bhairavī as the name of a particular form of Durga, as a girl of twelve who stands for Durga at the goddess's festival, and, in music, as a rāgiṇī or musical mode. Bhairavi is counted among the ten Mahavidya goddesses, and as a raga it is one of the best-loved melodies of Hindustani music, often chosen to close a concert. Baby-name lists give the name as Goddess Durga or simply as the raga.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
