Jagadamba meaning
Jagadamba (जगदम्बा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The mother of the world
Also used to mean: Durga
Jagadamba (जगदम्बा) is made of two Sanskrit words, jagat, "the world", and ambā, "mother", and Monier-Williams defines it as "the mother of the world". It is one of the most common titles for the Goddess in prayer, used above all for Durga and also for Parvati, and the cry "Jai Jagdambe" is heard at every Navratri. Name lists give the same meaning. As a given name it is more traditional than modern, and is often spelt Jagdamba in Hindi and Marathi.
