Jyoti meaning
Jyoti (ज्योति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin, also used for boys, as with Jyoti Basu.
Light of the sun, dawn and fire; brightness; the heavenly lights
Jyoti (ज्योति) is the Hindi form of Sanskrit jyotis, "light". Monier-Williams gives it as the light of the sun, the dawn, fire and lightning, and also as moonlight, the light of the eye and, in the plural, the heavenly bodies, the planets and stars. The old Indian science of the heavens, jyotiṣa, takes its name from it. In Hindi jyoti is feminine, and Platts' dictionary gives it as "light, brilliance, lustre, radiance", a sunbeam and the flame of a lamp, which is how name lists give it too. The name is mostly given to girls but is also used for boys, as with Jyoti Basu, the long-serving Chief Minister of West Bengal.
