Sushree (सुश्री) joins su-, "very, good", with śrī, "splendour, beauty, prosperity". Monier-Williams records suśrī from the Rigveda as "very splendid or rich". In modern Hindi suśrī is also a polite title for a woman, used much like "Ms". Name lists explain Sushree as "polite" or "well-behaved", which seems to come from that courteous use rather than from the old dictionary sense. The name is used mainly in Odisha, alongside related names such as Subhashree and Jayashree.
