Susan meaning
Susan is a Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
A lily (from its whiteness)
Susan is the English short form of Susanna, from Hebrew shoshannah. Strong's Concordance defines the word as a lily, named for its whiteness, and notes that it was also used for lily-shaped ornaments in the Temple. Christians love the image because Jesus pointed to the lilies of the field, which neither toil nor spin, as a sign of God's care. It is used in Indian Christian families, and Kerala also has the traditional form Sosamma.
