Flora meaning
Flora is a Christian and international girl's name of Latin origin.
The Roman goddess of flowers; from flos, 'flower'
Flora is the Roman goddess of flowers and springtime. Lewis & Short derive her name from flos, 'flower', and note that her festival, the Floralia, was held at the end of April. Botanists later borrowed the word for all the plants of a region. As a Christian name it was carried by St Flora of Córdoba, a ninth-century martyr. In India Flora is used by Catholic families in Goa, Mangalore and Kerala.
