Rosie meaning
Rosie is an international girl's name of English origin (from Latin).
Pet form of Rose; the rose, from Latin rosa
Rosie began as an English pet form of Rose and of longer names such as Rosemary, Rosalind and Rosamund, and is now also given on its own. Its root is the rose, which the Online Etymology Dictionary traces to Latin rosa and Greek rhodon, and further back to an Iranian word related to Persian gul. In English, rosy also means pink and healthy, or hopeful, as in "a rosy future", so the name has a cheerful ring. During the Second World War "Rosie the Riveter" became an American symbol of women at work. It is said ROH-zee and fits easily with Indian surnames.
