Rose meaning
Rose is an international and Christian girl's name of English origin (from Latin).
The rose flower; Old English rose, from Latin rosa
Rose is the English name of the flower, used as a girl's name since the Middle Ages. The Online Etymology Dictionary traces English rose to Latin rosa, which probably came through Italian and Greek dialects from Greek rhodon and, further back, from an Iranian word, related to the Persian gul that Indians know from gulab. The rose has long stood for love and beauty, and in Christian tradition it is linked with the Virgin Mary, which is why the rosary is named after a rose garden. Rose also works well as a middle name. It is a single syllable, said ROHZ, and means the same as Gulab.
