Sharon meaning
Sharon is a Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
A plain; the coastal plain of Sharon in Palestine
Also used to mean: fertile land
Sharon is the Hebrew name of the broad, fertile plain along Israel's Mediterranean coast. Strong's Concordance glosses Sharown simply as 'plain', probably shortened from yashar, 'level, straight'. The Bible praises the beauty of Sharon's pastures and flowers, and the Song of Songs gives the famous line 'I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys', which Christians have long read as a picture of Christ. That line made Sharon a girl's name in the English-speaking world in the twentieth century. In India it is used in Christian families, mostly for girls but sometimes for boys.
