Chloe meaning
Chloe is an international and Christian girl's name of Greek origin.
The first green shoot of plants; young verdure
Also used to mean: blooming
Chloe is a Greek word for the first green shoots of spring. The Liddell-Scott-Jones lexicon defines chloē as the young green growth of plants, especially new corn or grass, and records it as a title of the goddess Demeter, "the Verdant". Strong's concordance glosses it simply as "green". It is also a New Testament name: in 1 Corinthians 1:11 Paul mentions "Chloe's household", Christians of Corinth who told him of quarrels in the church. In the ancient romance Daphnis and Chloe it is the name of the heroine. It is pronounced KLOH-ee, in two syllables.
