Autumn meaning
Autumn is an international girl's name of English origin (from Latin).
The season between summer and winter; the fall
Autumn is the English name of the season between summer and winter, which Americans call the fall. It comes from Latin autumnus. Webster's 1913 dictionary also records two older uses: the crops gathered in that season, as when Milton writes of autumn, and figuratively a time of maturity, the later part of life or of anything. As a girl's name it belongs to the family of nature and season names such as Summer and Willow. For Indian families it corresponds roughly to śarad, which Monier-Williams describes as the two months after the rains, the season of Navratri and Diwali.
