June meaning
June is an international girl's name of Latin origin.
The month of June, Latin Iunius, probably "sacred to Juno"
Also used to mean: young, born in June
June is the name of the month, used as a girl's name in English since the late nineteenth century. The month comes from Latin Iunius mensis, the sixth month of the Roman year; Lewis & Short also record Iunius as the name of a Roman family. The Online Etymology Dictionary explains the month's name as probably short for Iunonius, "sacred to Juno", the queen of the Roman gods and protector of women and marriage. Name lists often add the meaning "young", which comes from linking Juno with Latin iuvenis; the dictionaries give the month sense instead. June is a single, soft syllable and is easy to say with Indian surnames.
