Sheeba is the usual Indian spelling of Sheba, the land in Arabia or East Africa whose queen travelled to Jerusalem with gold and spices to test King Solomon's wisdom. Strong's Concordance says the Hebrew name of the land is of foreign origin and gives it no meaning. Name lists usually explain Sheeba as 'oath' or 'promise'. That sense belongs to a similar but separate Hebrew word, sheba', which appears in Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, 'daughter of an oath'. So the popular meaning comes from Bathsheba rather than from Sheba itself. In India the name is used across communities, not only by Christians.
