Bharani meaning
Bharani (பரணி) is a Tamil unisex name of Sanskrit origin (Tamil usage), used for both girls and boys.
The second lunar mansion, Bharaṇī; also a Tamil war-poem genre
Also used to mean: a star, the bearer
Bharani (பரணி) is the name of a lunar mansion, the star group counted second of the twenty-seven nakṣatras in the sign of Aries. The Tamil Lexicon traces paraṇi to Sanskrit bharaṇī, which Monier-Williams describes as a lunar mansion of three stars. In Tamil the word also names a genre of heroic poetry praising a king who slew a thousand elephants in war, the most famous being the Kalingattuparani. In Tamil Nadu and Andhra the name is given to boys and girls, often to children born under the star. The Telugu actor and writer Tanikella Bharani carries it.
