Selvam meaning
Selvam (செல்வம்) is a Tamil boy's name.
Wealth, riches; prosperity, a flourishing state; also beauty
Selvam (செல்வம்) is a pure Tamil word for wealth. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras gives celvam first as wealth or riches, then as abundance and a flourishing state, and also lists beauty, enjoyment and learning among its senses, so the word reaches beyond money to everything that makes a life rich. The same root gives Selvan, 'a prosperous man' or 'son', and Selvi, a girl's name the Lexicon links with Lakshmi. Selvam is used on its own and in compounds such as Selvakumar and Selvaraj, mostly for boys.
