Sezhiyan meaning
Sezhiyan (செழியன்) is a Tamil boy's name.
A king of the Pandya country
Sezhiyan (செழியன்), also spelt Chezhiyan, is a classical title of the Pandya kings of Madurai. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras derives it from ceḻumai, a word for greatness, splendour, beauty and green abundance, and quotes Puṟanāṉūṟu, which addresses a Pandya king as 'Seḻiya of the victorious spear'. The best-known holder is Nedunchezhiyan, the Sangam-age Pandya king. In modern times it has been used as a given name, borne by the parliamentarian and writer Era Sezhiyan, who took it in place of his birth name.
