Manimaran meaning
Manimaran (மணிமாறன்) is a Tamil boy's name.
Maṇi (gem) joined with māṟaṉ (title of the Pandya kings)
Manimaran (மணிமாறன்) joins maṇi, "gem", with Māṟaṉ. The Tamil Lexicon defines maṇi as a precious stone of any kind, and māṟaṉ as a title of the Pandya kings of Madurai and also a name of the Vaishnava saint Nammāḻvār. Together they read as "a jewel among the Pandyas" or "gem-like Maran". Some name sites gloss maaran as "warrior", but the Lexicon does not give that sense. The name follows the same pattern as Nedumaran and Ilamaran.
