Mithran meaning
Mithran (மித்ரன்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Tamil usage).
A friend, ally; also the sun and the sun-god Mitra
Mithran (மித்ரன்) is the Tamil form of Sanskrit mitra. The Tamil Lexicon gives mittiraṉ as a friend, ally or supporter, a relative, the sun-god Mitra, one of the twelve Ādityas, and the sun itself; Monier-Williams likewise has mitra as a friend or companion and the name of an Āditya, often paired with Varuṇa. Name lists usually give "sun", sometimes "friend", and both are right. The name is used in Tamil Nadu and Kerala; a well-known bearer is the Tamil film director P. S. Mithran.
