Lingesh meaning
Lingesh (लिंगेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Kannada and Tamil usage).
Lord of the linga, Shiva (liṅga + īśa)
Also used to mean: Lord Shiva, lord of the lingam
Lingesh (लिंगेश) is formed from Sanskrit liṅga and īśa. Monier-Williams gives liṅga as a mark, sign or emblem, and in particular the stone emblem under which Shiva is worshipped in temples; īśa means a lord or master and is itself one of Shiva's names. Together they give "lord of the linga", the meaning name lists repeat. The compound is not in the dictionary, so the meaning rests on its two parts. The name is used mainly in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, alongside the longer form Lingeshwar.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
