Phanindra meaning
Phanindra (फणीन्द्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
'serpent-king', a name of Śeṣa; also of Patañjali
Also used to mean: lord of serpents
Phanindra (फणीन्द्र) joins Sanskrit phaṇin, "a hooded serpent", with indra, "chief", to give "king of serpents". Monier-Williams records it as a name of Shesha, the many-hooded serpent on whom Vishnu rests, and of Patanjali, the author of the Yoga Sutras, who in tradition is an incarnation of Shesha. Shiva, who wears serpents, is linked with the name in popular use. Name lists give "lord of serpents". The name is used in Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Odisha and Nepal, often shortened to Phani.
