Vedant meaning
Vedant (वेदांत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, वे, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
End of the Veda; the Upaniṣads; Vedānta philosophy
Vedant (वेदांत) is Sanskrit vedānta, formed from veda and anta, "end". Monier-Williams gives it first as "end of the Veda", meaning complete knowledge of the Veda, and in the plural as the Upaniṣads, which come at the close of the Vedic texts. It is also the name of Vedānta philosophy, which MW calls the second and most important part of the Mīmāṃsā, also known as the Uttara-mīmāṃsā, an enquiry into the later, knowledge-centred portion of the Veda. MW names Vyāsa or Bādarāyaṇa as its founder and Śaṅkarācārya as its most eminent teacher, whose chief doctrine is that only the one Self, Brahman, truly exists. Indian name lists give the same meaning. It is a boy's name used across India.
