Vidur meaning
Vidur (विदुर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Knowing, wise, intelligent, skilled; the wise brother of Dhritarashtra
Vidur (विदुर) is the Sanskrit vidura, from vid, "to know". Monier-Williams gives it as knowing, wise, intelligent and skilled, and as a noun a learned or clever man. Its fame comes from Vidura of the Mahābhārata, the younger half-brother of Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Pāṇḍu, born to the sage Vyāsa and a maidservant, whom Monier-Williams calls one of the wisest characters in the epic. He counselled both the Pandavas and the blind king, and his advice to Dhṛtarāṣṭra is known as the Vidura Nīti. Name lists give Vidur as "wise" or "skilled", matching the dictionary.
