Deepak meaning
Deepak (दीपक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A lamp, light; illuminating
Deepak (दीपक) comes from Sanskrit dīpaka. Used as an adjective, Monier-Williams gives it as "kindling, illuminating"; as a noun it is "a light, lamp". The same entry records Dīpaka as the name of a musical rāga, as a name of Kāma, the god of love, in the sense "the inflamer", and as a son of Garuḍa in the Mahābhārata. Baby-name lists give the meaning as "lamp" or "light", which matches the dictionary. The name shares its root with Deepa, Deepika and Deepti, and in Hindi the same word is also the ordinary name for an oil lamp. It is written and said much the same way across most Indian languages.
