Deendayal meaning
Deendayal (दीनदयाल) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Compassionate to the afflicted and poor
Also used to mean: compassionate to the poor, kind to the humble
Deendayal (दीनदयाल) joins dīna and dayāl. Monier-Williams gives dīna as depressed, afflicted, timid or miserable, and dayālu, from dayā, "compassion", as one who takes pity. Together the name means "compassionate to the afflicted", and Indian name lists give it as "kind to the poor" or "compassionate to the humble". In Hindi devotional poetry Deendayal is a familiar title of God, merciful to those in need. The name is best known through Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the twentieth-century political thinker.
