Deependra meaning
Deependra (दीपेंद्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Chief of lights, lord of lamps
Also used to mean: lord of light
Deependra (दीपेंद्र) is made of dīpa, "a light, a lamp", and indra. Indra is the king of the gods, and Monier-Williams notes that at the end of a compound the word simply means "the best" or "the chief" of something, as in Surendra, "chief of the gods", and Rajendra, "chief of kings". Deependra therefore means "chief of lights" or "lord of lamps", which is how Indian name lists give it: "lord of light". The compound is not in the classical dictionaries but follows a very old naming pattern. It is used in North India and Nepal, often spelled Dipendra.
