Advait meaning
Advait (अद्वैत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Having no duplicate; peerless, unique; non-duality
Advait (अद्वैत) is Sanskrit a-dvaita, literally "not two". Monier-Williams gives the adjective as "having no duplicate", "peerless" and "sole, unique", and records it as an epithet of Viṣṇu. As a neuter noun, advaita means non-duality, the identity of the individual soul with the supreme soul. That idea gives its name to Advaita Vedānta, the school of Hindu philosophy most closely linked with the eighth-century teacher Śaṅkara, who held that there is one eternal, unchanging reality, brahman, and that the world's plurality is illusory. Indian name lists give Advait as "unique" or "non-dual", in line with the dictionary. The final -a of the Sanskrit word is dropped in the modern name, as it is in most north Indian names.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
