Naman meaning
Naman (नमन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Bending, bowing; bowing down
Also used to mean: salutation, reverence
Naman (नमन) comes from Sanskrit namana, a noun from the verb nam, "to bend, to bow". Monier-Williams gives it as bending or bowing and as bowing down, and in poetry it can even describe the bending of a bow. The same root gives namas, the reverent bow or salutation heard in namaste. In Hindi, naman is the respectful bow one offers to elders, teachers and the gods, and name lists give the name as "salutation" or "reverence", which fits the dictionary. Naman is used by Hindu families across North India.
