Sangamesh meaning
Sangamesh (संगमेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Kannada usage).
Lord of the confluence; saṃgama 'meeting, confluence of rivers'
Sangamesh (संगमेश) joins saṃgama, which Monier-Williams gives as a meeting or union and especially the sacred confluence of two rivers, with īśa, "lord". It names Shiva as Sangameshvara, "lord of the confluence", worshipped at Kudalasangama in Karnataka, where the Krishna and Malaprabha rivers meet. The place is central to Lingayat devotion: Basavanna's samadhi is there, and he addressed his vachanas to Kudalasangamadeva. The name, with forms such as Sangamesha and Sangappa, is used among Lingayat families in North Karnataka.
