Vasu meaning
Vasu (वसु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Excellent, good; the Vasus, a class of eight gods; wealth, riches
Also used to mean: bright
Vasu (वसु) is an old Sanskrit word with several linked senses. Monier-Williams gives it as excellent, good and beneficent, and as a noun the Vasus, a group of eight deities of light and the elements, such as fire, wind, the moon and the dawn, who are counted with the Rudras and Ādityas among the thirty-three gods. It can also mean a ray of light, and in the neuter wealth, riches, gold or a jewel. In the Mahābhārata, Bhishma is the eighth Vasu born on earth, and Vasu Uparicara is a king of the Chedis. Name lists give it as "wealth", "bright" or "excellent", all of which are dictionary senses.
