Vasudev meaning
Vasudev (वासुदेव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, वा, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Rohini nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Son of Vasudeva: a patronymic of Kṛṣṇa
Vasudev (वासुदेव) is Sanskrit vāsudeva, a patronymic meaning "son of Vasudeva": the name of Kṛṣṇa as the son of the Yādava prince Vasudeva. The long first vowel matters. Vasudeva, with a short a, is the father, and Vāsudeva the son, though in English spelling the two often look the same. Vāsudeva is one of Kṛṣṇa's best-known names, and in the Bhagavad Gītā (7.19) Kṛṣṇa says that the rare wise person, after many births, comes to know that "Vāsudeva is all". Monier-Williams also lists several kings and authors of this name. Indian name lists likewise connect it with Kṛṣṇa and Viṣṇu. It is given to boys across India.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Krishna.
