Vashisht meaning
Vashisht (वशिष्ठ) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Most excellent, best, richest; the Vedic sage Vasishtha
Also used to mean: the best
Vashisht (वशिष्ठ) is the Hindi form of Sanskrit vasiṣṭha, the superlative of vasu, "good, excellent, rich". Monier-Williams gives vasiṣṭha as most excellent, best and richest, a sense used in the Ṛg-veda, and as the name of one of the most celebrated Vedic seers. Vasiṣṭha is the composer of the seventh book of the Ṛg-veda, the owner of the wish-granting cow Nandinī, the great rival of Viśvāmitra, and the family priest and teacher of Rama's dynasty. He is counted among the seven sages, and a law-book bears his name. Name lists give the name as "the best" or "most excellent", matching the dictionary.
