Ravi meaning
Ravi (रवि) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
The sun; the sun god
Ravi (रवि) is the Sanskrit ravi, the sun. Monier-Williams gives it first as a particular form of the sun, sometimes counted among the twelve Ādityas, which is why the word can also mean the number twelve, and then as the sun or sun god in general, citing Manu and the Mahabharata. Ravi is also short for ravidina, "the sun's day", Sunday. The dictionary lists Ravi as the name of a son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra and of two medieval authors. Indian name lists give Ravi as "sun", which matches. Its best-known modern bearer is the sitar player Ravi Shankar, who introduced Indian classical music to audiences in the West.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Surya.
