Rohit meaning
Rohit (रोहित) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रो, it is a Tula rashi name (Swati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Red, reddish; a son of Harishchandra
Also used to mean: first rays of the sun
Rohit (रोहित) is the Sanskrit rohita, "red, reddish". As a masculine noun Monier-Williams gives a red or chestnut horse, a name applied to the Sun in the Rig Veda, and hymns of the Atharva Veda are named after this Rohita. It is also the name of Rohita, son of King Hariścandra, in the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa and the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, and of a son of Krishna in the Harivaṃśa. The word further names a kind of fish and a kind of deer. Name lists often give Rohit as "the first rays of the sun"; we did not find that exact sense in the dictionary. The cricketer Rohit Sharma is its best-known bearer today.
