Arun meaning
Arun (अरुण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Reddish, tawny, the colour of dawn; the dawn; the sun
Arun (अरुण) comes from Sanskrit aruṇa, a colour word for reddish-brown, tawny or ruddy. Monier-Williams describes it as the colour of the morning set against the darkness of night. As a noun aruṇa means red colour, the dawn, and the sun, and in mythology Aruṇa is the dawn personified as the charioteer of the sun god. The dictionary also records Aruṇa as the father of the bird Jaṭāyu, who appears in the Rāmāyaṇa. Name lists give Arun as "dawn" or "sun", which matches the dictionary. The feminine forms are Aruṇā and Aruṇī.
