Udayshankar meaning
Udayshankar (उदयशंकर) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (compound). By its first sound, उ, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The rising Śaṅkara (udaya + śaṃkara): Shiva who brings good fortune
Also used to mean: Lord Shiva
Udayshankar (उदयशंकर) joins udaya, which Monier-Williams gives as rising, the rising of the sun, and also success and prosperity, with Śaṅkara, "the auspicious one", a name of Śiva that literally means "causing prosperity". The name can be read as "the rising Śaṅkara" or as a blessing of rising fortune from Śiva. Name lists treat it as Uday plus Shankar; one gives "rising moon", which does not follow from the words. It is usually written as two words, Uday Shankar, and is best known through the dancer and choreographer Uday Shankar (1900–1977), a pioneer of modern Indian dance.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
